The six quintal animal was recovered along a cliff by helicopter
This morning a team of firefighters from the Teramo Command intervened near Casale San Nicola, in the municipality of Isola del Gran Sasso, to carry out a rescue operation on a calf. Yesterday the animal, while grazing in an area with steep slopes, lost its balance and rolled down a steep slope, causing damage to its spine which prevented it from moving. Given the impossibility of recovering the cattle weighing over six quintals with ordinary means, this morning a request was made for intervention by a helicopter from the Pescara Fire Brigade Flight Department, which arrived on site in a short time. A veterinarian sedated the calf in order to allow the firefighters’ air rescuers to place her on a rescue net attached to the helicopter’s barycentric hook. It was then lifted from the ground and, after a short flight, it was left on land near the stable where it was taken care of by the vet called to the scene by the breeder who owned the animal.
