Lecco, 21 June – Mauro Piazza, undersecretary to the Presidency of the Lombardy Region, celebrated the 180 years of the Merate Fire Brigade by hosting three European delegations together with the former foreman Pierangelo Castelli: “On the occasion of the celebrations of the 180th anniversary of the Merate Volunteer Fire Brigade detachment which will take place in the next few days and which the Lombardy Region proudly sponsors, this morning I hosted the Dutch, French and Finnish delegations of the Fire Brigade at Palazzo Lombardia , accompanied by the former team leader of the Merate Detachment Pierangelo Castelli.
During the meeting I expressed my appreciation and esteem for the precious rescue and civil protection activity carried out at the service of the community.
The Merate Volunteer Fire Brigade Detachment, operational 365 days a year, serves a large catchment area and, in order to make it even more efficient, the last legislature of the Lombardy Region made an important contribution to the creation of the CPE – Multifunctional Emergency Center with the approval of an agenda that I presented to the Regional Council to bring benefits and added value with respect to the security needs of the territory.
The Merate Detachment is an important and concrete reality for the Lecco area. I thank all the firefighters for their commitment, their availability and the exceptional work carried out with dedication and professionalism and the Amis Association of Pumpier de Meràa (Friends of the Merate Fire Brigade) for the commitment shown in all these years to support of the activities of the volunteer firefighters”.
