Flood and restart. A press conference took place this morning in the provincial council room to illustrate the progress of the works carried out by the road service in the provincial territory following last year’s flood events. They were present the mayor and president of the Province of Ravenna Michele de Pascale, the provincial councilor delegate for roads and traffic Nicola Pasithe mayors or representatives of the municipalities of Faenza, Lugo, Bagnacavallo.

The 36 interventions were extremely urgent

In the post-flood reconstruction phase, the works were first carried out as a matter of urgency a total of 36 interventions with a total value of approximately 4 million and 200 thousand euros; for example restoration and safety interventions following landslides, reconstruction of road bodies, aimed mainly at allowing reopening to traffic and ensuring traffic.

The 39 safety interventions

They were then prepared 39 interventions to make safety and restore the viability of road infrastructures for a total cost of approximately 30 million euros, allocated following ordinance no. 13 of 31 October 2023 of the commissioner for post-flood reconstruction, general Francesco Paolo Figliuolo. As regards the lowland areas, the interventions are dedicated in particular to the restoration of the road network, some with works in progress, others with assignment expected in the short term. The hilly area is the subject of very significant interventions, mainly aimed at making the territory safe, hit by landslides, on some of the main traffic arteries (such as the provincial roads 302R “Brisighellese”, 306R “Casolana-Riolese” – with the construction of a new variant road section in the town of Borgo Rivola – and the 63 “Valletta-Zattaglia”) with works in progress or entrustment expected in the short term.

“When planning extremely urgent interventions – they explain de Pascale and Pasi – priority was given to projects dedicated to roads at the bottom of the valley and secondarily to those in the valley, most affected by flood phenomena, works on which it was urgent to act to allow the restoration of road connections and traffic in the shortest possible time. Since November, we have been proceeding at full speed with the implementation of a complex and important plan of works for the safety of the territory. LSince the day of the flood, the Province of Ravenna has already spent 3,350,000 euros to carry out works to restore the road network and the protection of road safety and has already signed contracts for a further 2 and a half million euros, as provided for by Commissioner Figliuolo’s ordinance for the 2024 year. While it is more than evident that for the works that will be contracted out in the coming months, the resources will be spent with the progress of the works and certainly not in advance; it would be enough to know even superficially how a public body works, or an investment plan to not be surprised by this statement: from the end of October 2023, when the ordinance was signed, entrust the design, carry out and approve the project, set up the tenders The contract and in several cases starting work on very complex, highly specialized works which already correspond to the total safety of the territory, represents almost a miracle. Anyone who insinuates an alleged lack of proactivity on the part of the Province is either making totally instrumental controversies or knows absolutely nothing about how the construction of a public work works, or perhaps both things together.”
