It has been a long time since the undersigned Trade Association that I am honored to represent as Provincial Coordinator of Commercial Companies in Public Areas has been most representative

at a regional and national level, together with Casambulanti, requests a meeting with the Municipal Administration of Brindisi, to represent the numerous critical issues that have occurred over the course of all these years in the Mercatale Area of the Santa Elia district.

There have been numerous attempts to remind the Mayor and the Councilor of the branch, but, unfortunately, due to mere oppression of snobbery, even today, obtorto collo, nothing has changed and no kind response has been given.

A year after the installation of the new Administration, despite sharing the varied problems affecting the entire city, we hoped for an improvement, but there is no discussion whatsoever about the reorganization of the weekly market, taking into account the potential and the entire related industries. commercial which represents the largest market in the entire Province of Brindisi.

A healthy, admirable and competent political action must be capable of excellently representing the mandate received from the Citizens, through fruitful consultation in order to resolve gangrenous and unresolved problems for years.

The Citizens of Brindisi have made a choice of field, giving a very specific mandate that goes in the direction of simplification and solution of the problems and not total avoidance.

We are tired of this modus operandi, so much so that in the meantime and in the event that there are no confirmation signals, we would be forced to ask for a meeting with His Excellency Mr. Prefect Dr. Luigi Carnevale, to represent all our total disappointment.

Returning to the Market issue, we immediately condemn and are strongly against the type of violent approach taken by the body responsible for the supervision and control of the entire market area towards the Operators. It is unacceptable to act in this way, creating fear and confusion for parking concessionaires as well as regular visitors to the market. The spaces granted with administrative authorization to each Operator, should problems of public interest or emergencies arise which would prevent the use of the Area or some streets used as a weekly market, the competence lies with the City Council with changes to be made to the DSC , subject to mandatory opinion from the Trade Associations (see REGIONAL LAW 16 April 2015, n. 24- art.3 paragraph 2 and 3).

But all this, as already mentioned, the Municipality of Brindisi does not intend to implement in the slightest!

We trust in a repentance, after yet another reminder, in a courteous and immediate response, creating the conditions for constructive consultation for the good of the Citizens, of the entire City and above all for the Commercial Operators who, with enormous efforts, intend to continue to honor the due payment of the new market tax.

The Provincial Coordinator

Tommaso Attanasi
