The League and Brothers of Italy continue their battle against the income meter and the Establishments Amendment seaside. These two proposals have been discussed in Parliament for months now, with considerable difficulty on the part of deputies in finding a solution. A small glimmer of hope, immediately stopped, was there request to transform the two proposals into agendas to be discussed within the cohesion decree.
This decision, however, was harshly criticized by the Quirinale which does not consider the income meter and the amendment on seaside resorts to be arguments in keeping with the cohesion decree. It therefore seemed that the proposal had been completely rejected. However, yesterday in the Budget Committee a new possibility arose, as demonstrated by the words of the Undersecretary of the Economy, Federico Freni: “Forza Italia’s demands are widely shared and will be enhanced by the Government in a forthcoming regulatory provision“.
However, the issue of the seaside amendment, signed by the group leader in the Senate, is more complex Massimiliano Romeowho stated: “We have decided to turn the amendment into an agenda. Our proposal was not a stretch but a request for urgent intervention from the government, consistent with the demands of an important sector for the country“.

The income meter case exploded last Maywhen the deputy minister of the Mef Maurizio Leo proposed the entry into force of the reform in order to limit the problem of tax evasion. The deputy minister was called by Giorgia Meloni herself to intervene in the Council of Ministers to discuss and analyze his proposal, which unleashed chaos in the majority.
The prime minister himself intervened on the issue, first declaring that “No ‘tax big brother’ will ever be introduced by this Government. I have always been against invasive income measurement mechanisms applied to ordinary people” and then announcing the suspension of the proposal. “We have come to the conclusion that it is best to suspend pending further investigation” declared the Prime Minister.
Now the time has come to clarify, but the issue is more complex than expected. The Undersecretary of Economy Brakes he explained that “the income meter is a tool that has not been used for years and that no one has the intention of using” is that “Deputy Minister Leo, Minister Giorgetti and the entire majority are working to respond in a concrete and operational way to the needs of taxpayers with the seriousness that has always characterized this Government“.
The solution could be found in the new draft legislative decree implementing the tax delegation which should be discussed by the Council of Ministers today. Precisely here, therefore, the income meter could be discussed as an agenda. The blue senator Maurizio Gasparri he said he was satisfied with Freni’s proposal: “We have presented an amendment to highlight a priority need for Forza Italia. Undersecretary Freni has already given us an answer, recognizing FI’s commitment and the will of the Government“.
Seaside resorts, the possible discussion in the agriculture decree
Following the League’s proposal to include the discussion of theamendment on seaside resorts within the Cohesion law decree, the Quirinale intervened by rejecting the possibility. The amendment, therefore, was transformed into an agendaas Massimiliano Romeo himself explained: “A gesture of responsibility after the reassurances from Palazzo Chigi“.
The agenda will have to induce the Government to adopt a mapping of the beaches and guarantee an economic return, as well as a recognition of compensation and a preference system referring to the current beach managers. The agenda could be discussed in the Agriculture decreeas requested by the League, this evening but further postponements cannot be ruled out.
