“An extraordinary job was done at Reggina, there is a basis from which to start again”

Maurizio Pellegrino, former sporting director of Regginaspoke to Gazzetta del Sud and returned to the amaranth vintage:

“In Reggio Calabria we started in a complicated situation, there wasn’t even the name of Reggina. We were two months behind the other teams and we built a team in a few days, following the restrictive rules of the Under in Serie D. Despite this, we reached the playoff final with Siracusa and launched some guys with good prospects. In my opinion it was an extraordinary year, so much so that there is already a basis for starting again next year and trying to win“.

For Pellegrino there was talk of a match with Messina: “It’s an honor to be linked to Messina, it would be wonderful, but at the moment it’s just a rumour. I know Provenzano, but there is no concrete evidence, although I imagine they are discussing it. I sincerely hope that they can think of me, because I believe that together with Giacomo Modica we can do an excellent job. A very specific identity could be created alongside a coach who knows the environment and who could make people’s passion grow further“.
