A mountaineer died this morning after falling from the summit of Gran Paradiso. The accident occurred around 9am, shortly after a group of climbers who were in the area and witnessed the scene raised the alarm.
The accident
The victim of the accident that occurred this morning on the Gran Paradiso is an Italian mountaineer. According to initial investigations, the man, who had arrived from Veneto with a climbing partner, fell about 300 meters. The mountaineer had spent the night with his friend at the Chabod refuge. The rescue
A group of climbers who witnessed the scene called for help. After the alarm, the Aosta Valley Alpine Rescue volunteers arrived at the accident site by helicopter, recovering the mountaineer’s lifeless body.
The body was then taken to the mortuary of the Courmayeur cemetery while the identification operations are entrusted to the Alpine Rescue of the Entrèves financial police.
