The Municipality of Triestein collaboration with Asugi (Giuliano Isontina University Health Company), ha donated a second ambulance at the Ukrainian city Of Mykolaiv. This initiative, which is part of the context of humanitarian aid, demonstrates how the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region be at the forefront of supporting Ukraine, with its system of Civil protection And healthcare.

A constant commitment

During the press conference in the Blue Room of the Trieste town hallthe regional councilor for Health and Civil Protection Riccardo Riccardi underlined the importance of this operation. Aid immediately left our region when the conflict broke outdeclared Riccardi, highlighting the role of Friuli-Venezia Giulia in the organization of refugee camps on the borders between Ukraine and Poland and in the sorting of displaced people in Italy.

The Civil Protection system of Friuli-Venezia Giulia guaranteed fundamental logistical support for the collection and transfer of medicines from all Italian regions to Ukraine. This effort was recognized by the Italian government, with the then prime minister’s visit to Palmanova Mario Draghi.

Hope in diplomacy

Riccardi concluded his speech by expressing the hope that diplomacy will prevail and that the weapons will fall silent as soon as possible. The donation of the new ambulance is just the latest step in an ongoing commitment to providing assistance and support to Ukraine.

Operation Tom – Trieste Embraces Mykolaiv

The initiative, called Operation Tom – Trieste Embraces Mykolaiv, began in March 2022 and saw a series of charitable activities, including donation drives and sending humanitarian aid convoys. The first ambulance was delivered last August, again in collaboration with Asugi.
