Devastating fire in a waste shed, the environmental alarm goes off

On Tuesday 11 June, around 6.30 pm, a fire broke out in a waste treatment company in Sandrigo, Vicenza. The fire, which involved a warehouse of approximately 1,400 square meters belonging to Savi Servizi, required the immediate intervention of various fire brigade teams from Vicenza, Bassano, Padua and Thiene. The firefighting and clean-up operations lasted over 18 hours, but fortunately no one was injured.

The fire brigade teams worked tirelessly to contain the flames and avoid the total destruction of the warehouse. Thanks to their timely intervention, it was possible to avoid a widespread fire that could have had much more serious consequences. The causes of the fire are still being examined by fire brigade technicians, and investigations are underway to determine the origin of the fire.

In via della Repubblica, in addition to the firefighters, technicians from the ARPAV (Regional Agency for Prevention and Environmental Protection of Veneto) were also present for monitoring air quality. This intervention is crucial to evaluate the environmental impact of the fire, especially considering that the shed contained various waste not yet treated. The presence of potentially dangerous materials makes rigorous control necessary to prevent risks to public health and the environment.
