The commission awarded the first prize toCable car project areacreated during the school year by the students of the 5th A Automation: Gianluca Brini, Luca Galbiati and Enrico Viglienghi.

Gianluca Brini, creator of the project and leader of the working group, talks about the choice of their project area: “The chosen project consists of the construction of a miniature cableway that allows the connection between three locations located on a mountain side, one in the valley , one upstream and one along the line, between the other two. This project was chosen because of the versatility and usefulness that a system of this type can have in an area such as that of Lecco, especially for solving the problems caused by inefficient public service lines in the most isolated towns. For the construction of the system, the construction of a to-and-fro type cableway was chosen. The choice to create a type of system in this category comes from the low hourly flow rate required to connect mountain villages and the high reliability of this type of system. Given the changeable nature of the mountain climate, it was preferred to choose a system that also offered excellent wind resistance; for this reason, the construction of a funifor-type system was considered which, thanks to the configuration of the ropes, arranged on the “sides of the cabin”, can resist gusts of wind up to 100 km/h”.
