A moment of great celebration for the Church of Pistoia scheduled for next Saturday, 29 June 2024, the day of Saints Peter and Paul. In the Eucharistic celebration scheduled in the Cathedral of San Zeno at 6.00 pm, the Diocese of Pistoia will see the conclusion of the Synod, two years after its beginning, with the delivery to Bishop Fausto Tardelli of the final text, the result of listening in the parishes and in other ecclesial realities, reworked in smaller circles and voted on in general assemblies by around 400 synod fathers and mothers. “To the Venerable Brother Fausto Tardelli, Bishop of Pistoia and Pescia – Pope Francis begins in his letter – who on the solemnity of the Apostles Peter and Paul, celebrates the golden jubilee of presbyteral ordination, recalling his commitment, fruitfully exercised for the good of the faithful of the communities of San Miniato, then of Pistoia and Pescia, united in person Episcopi, also mindful of his service in the Italian Episcopal Conference and in that of Tuscany, we thank him most heartily, also taking into consideration the apostolic concern, expressed with commitment tireless towards the flock of the faithful, and the pastoral concern with which he carried out his task and guided the faithful, nourishing them with the word of God and with the example of the charity of Jesus Christ, giving proof of fidelity and love towards the whole community and its individual members”.
As regards the Synod, on the day of San Jacopo, patron saint of the city of Pistoia, Thursday 25 July at the end of the pontifical Mass at 11 am in the Cathedral, the definitive text will then be delivered by Bishop Tardelli to the Diocese of Pistoia.
