“The work grows and makes our prices rise”

MATCHING DEMAND and job offers has always been his passion. For this reason, Rosario Rasizza – CEO of Openjobmetis and president of Assosomm, the association that brings together Italian employment agencies – opened his first business in the sector in Varese in 1997 under the banner “Temporary”. In 2001 he gave life to a new entrepreneurial project and founded “Openjob, Employment Agency”. In 2003, the private equity fund Wise Sgr joined Openjob and Rasizza was appointed CEO. Between 2003 and 2009 he allowed Openjob to grow rapidly and in March 2011 he completed an important financial and industrial operation, acquiring Metis Spa. From the merger between Openjob and Metis, Openjobmetis Spa was born in January 2012, of which Rasizza is CEO. On 3 December 2015 the dream of listing Openjobmetis on the Mercato Telematico Azionario of the Italian Stock Exchange, Star segment, came true. To date, it is the only Italian agency to be able to boast this prestigious achievement.

Rasizza, and how did it go for the shareholders?

“Not bad, I would say. If an initial buyer had always held the stock until today, that share which at the time of listing was worth 6.60 euros went to 16.50 euros which is the price that the French of Crit paid to first purchase control of Openjobmetis and then to launch a totalitarian takeover bid for the capital”.

How is Openjobmetis positioned on the market?

“In 2023, with a temporary job market estimated at 15.7 billion euros, Italy is positioned as the fourth market in continental Europe. Openjobmetis is present throughout the national territory with a network of 160 agencies and has created revenues in 2023 equal to 703.3 million compared to 727.1 million in the previous year. The operating result (Ebit) is equal to 12.7 million compared to 11.7 million in 2022. Net profit is equal to 13. .6 million compared to 11.7 million in the previous year”.

An acquisition that will take you away from the company?

“No. The nice thing is that I will remain in the company for another three years together with the entire top management and all the employees”.

What do you expect for 2024?

“Our idea is that we will see significant growth and it is estimated that the market in our sector will grow by +3%. There are 852 direct employees and we all contribute to an important result: we have brought together over 23 thousand people who work in over 9,000 our client companies and is present throughout the national territory with a widespread network of over 160 branches”.

How is Openjobmetis organised?

“The specialist divisions, with which Openjobmetis also selects and trains professional figures with a high level of complexity, are agri-food, healthcare, technology, I&CT. The Large Customers team is added which includes two business lines: Large-scale retail trade and Banking and Finance “.

How is the job market changing?

“The market is extremely dynamic and the problem now is not finding work but finding workers. Once upon a time we said goodbye to the candidate with the usual ‘we’ll let you know’; today it’s the candidate-worker who tells us ‘I’ll evaluate the offer and I know how to tell them’. The market has really completely changed and for those who want to work and have the skills to spend there are so many avenues.”

What makes a successful application?

“Today the big distinction is between those who know how to do something and those who don’t, those who have a technical diploma and those who don’t. A welder or an installer finds work immediately, an anthropologist or a philosopher definitely has more difficulty.”

Which sectors perform best?

“The family care sector is doing very well. Research by the Ambrosetti studio estimated that there are around one million carers present in Italy, of which only 400 thousand are in good standing. Our company specializing in the carers sector has around 2,500 client families and finding a carer Italian is almost impossible. We work almost exclusively with foreign staff also because the Italians have families and do not want to sleep at the home of the person they have to assist do not live with elderly parents. After all, Italy is the country with the largest number of citizens over 65 who in 2030 will represent 28% of the population, people who are often weak, alone or with pathologies that require assistance and treatment” .

How is the division organized?

“The Family Care Division was founded in 2014 and currently has around twenty branches present throughout the country. It is currently experiencing strong expansion and the ever-increasing demand for family assistants has led to the launch of a recruiting campaign for carers throughout Italy. worsening the situation is a welfare system that is unable to adequately respond to the care needs expressed by families and so the private care work market is increasingly developing to respond to the growing demand for services. This is why Family Care directly hires family carers in compliance with the national collective labor agreement, guaranteeing the valorisation of the role of carer who in all respects presents himself towards the family as a worker with rights and duties”.

Are you also looking for people from abroad to come and work in Italy?

“Yes, International Recruitment is a hub created by Openjobmetis, which was created to search for and select professionals in all the countries of the world who want to come to work in Italy to make a change in their career. The main areas of intervention are: nursing sector, IT and shipbuilding. All services aimed at candidates, including training, are free”.
