To win the 34th edition of the Palio degli Zoccoli di Desio it was the district of San Pietro al Dosso. Lucas Tallone and Davide Tagliabue they crossed the finish line first, at the end of the two laps around the Basilica, with clogs on their feet. For San Pietro al Dosso it is the tenth victory in the history of the Palio. Second San Carlo, with Lorenzo Maiocchi and Elia Tripodo bringing their contrada to the podium for the first time. In third place Saint Johnwith Simone Zampino and Manuel Greco Lucchina.
The satisfaction of the winners
There was a great celebration for the winners, who, still breathless, said a lot about themselves as soon as they finished the race satisfied and excited: “It went very well, we trained a lot and we are really happy with this victory” Lucas Tallone and Davide Tagliabue commented to Mbnews, receiving compliments from everyone. This year’s event also celebrated the hundredth anniversary of the conferral of the title of city on Desio.

The districts
The event started as always from Villa Tittoni. With the roll of drums, the historical procession began with hundreds of participants of all ages, divided into the 11 districts with their masters and drapers, each representing a profession: the canons of the Squarethe traders of Lowthe soldiers of San Carlothe farmers of Duganathe Franciscan gods Meadowsthe hunters of Saint Johnthe Jerusalemites of St. Georgethe friars of San Colombano of San Pietro al Dossothe woodcutters of Saints Peter and Paulthe notables of Foppathe humiliated of Buscasca. And then ladies and knights of the historical procession, with the costumes created and cared for down to the smallest detail by the Palio seamstresses.

Finally they, the protagonists of the historical procession: the defeated Napo Torriani, dressed in rags and locked in a cage pulled by oxen. AND the winner Ottone Visconti who travels the streets of the city on horseback, proud and satisfied. As they pass, the audience applauds, waves and comments. This year too, many citizens attended the event and the clog race around the Basilica. There was no shortage of cheering.
