The fourteenth edition of the event will start on Sunday 30 June in Giovinazzo White Night of Poetry, format created by the poet Nicola De Matteo and annually organized, in intense team work, by‘Academy of Thoughts and Cultures of the Mediterranean, under the artistic direction of Gianni Antonio Palumbo, writer and researcher in Italian literature at the Department of Humanistic Studies of the University of Foggia. Also this year Palumbo availed itself of the collaboration of the poet Vito Davoli.
Also confirmed for this edition is the practice of Mediterranean poetic seminars, meetings held by the guests of the White Night, with free participation, upon registration by Saturday 29 June at [email protected].

THE INAUGURAL SEMINAR
This year’s inaugural seminar will be curated by the Palermo poet (from Prizzi) Margherita Rimi, who will hold it on June 30th at 11 am at the Vittorio Emanuele II Institute in Giovinazzo the meeting “From voices to the people of children”. Poet and essayist, doctor and neuropsychiatrist of childhood and adolescence, Margherita Rimi carries out intense front-line activity for the care and protection of children, against violence and abuse of minors and in favor of handicapped children . Among his collections of verses we highlight “Era Farsi. Autoantologia 1974-2011”, Marsilio, 2012, and “Le voci dei bambini”, Mursia, 2019. The second seminar, on 1 July at 11am, in Molfetta, at the Museum Civico Archeologico del Pulo, will have the title “Poetry and civil commitment” and will be curated by Giuseppe Langella, born in Loreto, former full professor of modern and contemporary Italian literature at the Catholic University, one of the greatest theorists and historians of literary modernity, to whom he also dedicated a substantial monograph in 2021, for Pearson. Her latest book of poetry, “Pandemies and other civil poems” was published by Mursia in 2022.

THE PROGRAM
The opening evening will take place in Giovinazzo in various locations in the historic center (Piazza delle Benedettine, Vedetta Sul Mediterraneo, Sala San Felice, Piazza Meschino, Piazza San Salvatore, Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli).
The second evening will take place in Molfetta, in the Pulo Museum, on 1 July, and is organized in collaboration with the Commission for Equal Opportunities of the Municipality of Molfetta, chaired by Marta Pisani. Inclusion, the fight against prejudice, the defense of rights, civil commitment will be the leitmotif of this edition of the White Night.
The festival will open and close, on both evenings, with the performance curated by Teatro Dantès /Art Factory – ETS, “Dialogue of a prostitute with her client”, by Dacia Maraini, directed by Antonio Duma. Other theatrical events will take place curated by Alfredo Vasco (“Path in Dante’s Inferno”), Michele Vittorio Del Vecchio in Giovinazzo, while the readers of the Notte Bianca della Poesia (Vasco himself, Nicola Accettura, Tania Adesso, Giusy Carminucci, Simona De Laurentiis, Lucia Diomede) will give life in Molfetta to the readings, curated by Gianni Antonio Palumbo, “In memory of some female poets from Molfetta” and “È arrivato per leggere. Versi d’amore contro il crimine e l’omofobia”. Also a guest at the Notte Bianca is the poet Tania Di Malta, with “Poems with glasses”.

This year too we will reflect on the Terminal Realism Movement, with the speech “Terminal Realism in tomorrow” by Annachiara Marangoni. A novelty is the space of “Six-legged Poems” curated by Elena Diomede. The “Riflessi” space of Luce e Vita, on metaphysical-civil poetry, and the attention to dialect have been confirmed.
Also this year one of the readings will be dedicated to student poetry, with an opening concert by the Brass Ensemble il Cenacolo.

In addition to individual poets from all over Italy, numerous associations from Puglia and Basilicata have joined: APS L’Ora blu, APS Verso Levante, Asd Archè-s – Bari, Circolo dei Lettori – Presidio del Libro of Bisceglie, Convivio of Poets – Santeramo in Colle, In Folio – Ruvo, L’Isola di Gary – Bari, Matera Poesia 1995, Mò Heart – Bitonto, International Movement “Women and Poetry” – Bari, “Virtute e Canoscenza” – Bari, in collaboration with l ‘ANVCG National Association of Civilian War Victims APS. For the first time at the White Night a representation of the Poets al Meridiano group, from Molise. The events will be presented by Angela Di Liso (who has also been responsible for the graphics of the festival posters for years), Marta Pisani, Anna Rita Merico, Giovanna Sgherza, Vito Davoli, Rosa Angela Finetti and Paolo Dinatale. There are numerous musical moments, including the opening concert by Rosalba Turturro and the final concert by the Legni Pregiati quartet.
