Fremito d’Arja takes Act 3 of the RS21 Cup Yamamay in Riva del Garda

Maybe because he knows Lake Garda like the back of his hand; it may be because in the five tests played he was the most consistent of all. The fact is that Dario Levi, with his “Fremito d’Arja” (for the colors of the Circolo Velico Torbole), won a hard-fought Act 3 of the RS21 Cup Yamamay Fiv sailing in Riva del Garda with record numbers: 35 team at the start and five nations represented. A success sealed by the perfect direction of Fraglia Vela Riva del Garda.

Levi – with Tea Faoro, Jas Farneti, Stefano Cherin and Fausto Surini in the crew – started off well immediately by winning the first race with the Ora, a southerly wind that characterized the Act3, suggesting that he wanted to aim for the final victory and conquer so too the provisional leadership after three Acts.

A three-day event, that of Riva del Garda, characterized by the instability of the weather which did not allow the regatta to take place completely even if there was no shortage of spectacle with breathtaking glides and a close fight at the mark. And the demonstration comes from the five races held with as many winners: “Fremito d’Arja” in the debut and followed by “Beyond Freedom 2.0” by Gianluca Grisoli, “Das Sailing Team” by Alessandro Zampori, “Les Freaks” by Marco Pocci and “Torpyone ” by Edoardo Lupi.

«Winning on Garda is always a pleasure – Dario Levi’s first comment -. And then I’m at home here even though I hadn’t won in Riva for a while. Of course we expected better weather conditions but this year that’s how it is and we had to settle for five races which were however very beautiful and spectacular for us helmsmen with planing at 15/16 knots. Are we first in the ranking now? Yes, I know, but this year the level in the RS21 has risen considerably and the fight for supremacy will be very close, we are under no illusions.”

In the Act3 ranking Levi got the better of “Stenghele” by Pietro Negri (Cv Torbole) and “Torpyone” by Edoardo Lupi (Cn Varazze).

Federica Archibugi (Sef Stamura An) from the Marche region returns to success in Corinthian with “Stick ‘N Poke”, 17th in the Open: a performance that allows her to regain the lead in the general classification after three Acts. Archibugi preceded the Englishman Alex Newton-Southon, CEO of RS Sailing Technical and co-designer of the RS21 boats. Finally, the Under 23s won for Andrea De Matteis’ “Nox Oceani 285” team.

Tired but satisfied Davide Casetti, president of the RS21 Italian Class: «Yes, we are satisfied with the progress of this stage even if the weather didn’t help us, but the five races held were fun with beautiful glides and 35 racers. I must say that I am very happy with how the debut of the “Race Sense” automatic start went, an absolute novelty for our class that allows us to automate not only the starts but also detect the OCS immediately. Everything went well and we will also use this system in the next stages. A special thanks also to Fraglia Vela Riva del Garda.”

Now after Riva del Garda the other Acts of the RS21 Cup Yamamay will be: 5/7 July Malcesine; 29 August – 1 September Torbole where the Italian title will also be awarded. Finally, the season will end with the World Championship scheduled from 24 to 27 September in Spain on the Costa Brava in L’Escala.
