Osama Hamdan, senior Hamas official, says no one knows how many of the 116 hostages kidnapped on October 7 are still alive. “I have no idea,” the official from Beirut tells CNN. “Nobody has an idea about it.” Hamdan blames Israel for the mental state of four recently rescued hostages, after a doctor said they were subjected to constant physical and emotional abuse during captivity. “I think if they have mental problems, it’s because of what Israel did in Gaza,” he says, according to the Times of Israel, adding that the abductees looked better when they left Gaza than when they were abducted.
Gantz: “We need a truce of one or two years to free the hostages”
Israel should pay the price a “one or two year” ceasefire in the Gaza Strip for the release of all hostages in the hands of Hamas. The leader of National Unity said it, Benny Gantz, resigned from the Israeli War Cabinet on Sunday.
Biden: “I don’t expect a ceasefire in Gaza right away”
The American president Joe Biden, speaking at the G7 summit, said he “does not expect a ceasefire agreement anytime soon” in the Middle East, but that we have not lost hope for an agreement. Biden then urged Hamas to accept a ceasefire agreement.
