Lazio region, Forza Italia pushes Rocca towards the reshuffle while the League puts its foot down

ROME – The “after the European elections” has arrived and a rather warm climate is brewing in the Lazio Region. It is not the Roman summer but the outcome of the vote which, although only slightly, also leads Forza Italia to be the second party in Lazio in terms of electoral numbers. The Italian political mission of “overtaking the League” is accomplished and the issue of the Rome parallel was already a significant factor on the eve of the vote for Brussels.
The reasoning of Antonio Tajani and Claudio Fazzone works like this: FI has 7 councilors (8 if we consider the intergroup with Noi Moderati) and 2 councillors. The Carroccio has only 1 councillor, after Angelo Tripodi and Pino Cangemi slammed the door to join Forza Italia. And 2 councillors. For Fazzone there is no doubt: the “blues” have the numbers to be able to ask for an increase in representation in the council. There is a lot of talk, for example, about the delegation to Urban Planning.
At home in the League, Claudio Durigon has deaf ears to the discussion and insists on keeping things as they are, net of the councilors’ changes of shirt. Same thought as Davide Bordoni, regional coordinator of the League.
In the middle of the two fires is President Francesco Rocca, called to make a decision shortly in one direction or the other. Above all, Brothers of Italy with their 22 councilors. As absurd as it may seem, the situation could open up a crisis in the centre-right given the conviction with which the Forza Italia supporters demand greater weight in the council and the Northern League’s decision not to retreat an inch.
