ROSIGANANO (LIVORNO) – Three people died in a road accident that occurred at the A12 motorway toll booth in Rosignano, in the province of Livorno.
The firefighters and several ambulances with two doctors arrived on the scene. According to initial information there are three dead and several injured including a child. At least three cars were involved, according to what was learned from the fire brigade whose intervention is underway. Serious damage to the toll booth structure.
One of the cars would have arrived at the toll booth in a sprint, hitting the other two stopped cars. According to an initial reconstruction by the rescuers, the two occupants of the car were killed as it crashed at high speed into the others in the queue, overturning and damaging the toll booth structure. One of the occupants of the rear-ended cars also died. Five other people were seriously injured. A 6-year-old child would also be involved.
The stretch of motorway between Rosignano Marittimo and the Rosignano barrier was closed to allow rescuers to intervene. Some of the seriously injured were transported to Livorno hospital.
