They noticed a column of black smoke rising from a garage while they were on a patrol car making a checkpoint around the city. And they immediately intervened. But in addition to the fire, the local police officers of Brugherio on Sunday afternoon also had to deal with the owner of the business who did not take kindly to the presence of the police forces, attacking the officers, according to the reconstruction by the command of the local police of Brugherio.
Once on site, in fact, in a warehouse in the western part of the city, the police allegedly asked for documents from the man who allegedly lit a fire inside his property and refused to provide what was requested, starting to insult the officers. Then an identity card appeared that did not convince the staff, where there was also no photo. And so the officers asked for another document. But there was another refusal and a fight during which the officers, in an attempt to block the man, fell to the ground.
The man was thus reported for violence and threats to a public official and resistance: one of the two officers was injured and had to seek medical treatment at the emergency room in Monza from where he was discharged with a prognosis of 5 days. For the man, a 40-year-old of Romanian origin residing in the Varese area, in addition to the complaints, a fine was also issued for violations of the Urban Police Regulation, which prohibits the lighting of fires.
