4×100 in the myth, the greatest gap in history!

Italy had never won a gold medal with relays at the European Championships of athletics until last night. To break a taboo that had lasted for ninety years was the Men’s 4×100who broke the bank at the Olympic Stadium in Rome and managed to triumph with an excellent time 37.82 (fourth time trial in Italian history).

Matteo Melluzzo at launch (10.45 from blocks and in curves), Marcell Jacobs on the opposite straight (8.98 of substance, a sign of a growing form for the Messiah), Lorenzo Patta in the second corner (9.34 of great quality) e Philip Tortu at the end (9.05 with a straight arrival with open arms to celebrate, always titanic when he has a stick in his hand) they entered history together, without forgetting to Roberto Rigali and Lorenzo Simonelliwho had raced in heat.

The Azzurri prevailed with even 64 cents ahead of the second place (the Netherlands) and 70 on the third (Germany), remembering that Great Britain had failed to qualify for the final round and that France had decided not to take part in the final at the last minute. Our national team has written a very small piece of history of the continental review, given that last night’s gap is the biggest gap ever at the European Championships.

In the last three years, Italy has been able to win the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (Patta, Jacobs, Fausto Desalu, Tortu), the silver at the World Championships in Budapest in 2023 (Rigali, Jacobs, Patta, Tortu) and gold at the European Championships in Rome (in the past twice second, the last in 2010): these are simply dream results for the tricolor movement and which project us with great enthusiasm towards the 2024 Paris Olympics, where no goal will always be barred to this team.
