POMARICO ACCIDENT: DRIVER INVESTIGATED

The 39-year-old is accused of vehicular homicide after the crash on June 6 on the SP3 which caused two deaths

The Matera Prosecutor’s Office intends to shed full light on the tragic road accident which occurred on Thursday 6 June 2024 in Pomarico on Provincial Road 3 and which cost the lives of a local couple: Domenico Liccese, 69 years old, and his wife Rosa Lenge, 65. The Public Prosecutor of the related criminal proceedings, Dr. Angela Continisio, included among those under investigation for the crime of road homicide the driver of the car, a Lancia Musa, who, traveling along the SP3 in the direction of Matera-Metaponto, on a curvilinear stretch of road turning towards left, would have invaded the oncoming lane, colliding head-on with the Fiat Multipla in which the two spouses were traveling and driven by Liccese: this is GA, 39 years old, from Montescaglioso, also in the province of Matera, who instead survived. The Deputy Prosecutor, who also validated the seizure of the two vehicles involved which had already been carried out immediately by the officers of the Policoro Traffic Police detachment, who carried out the investigations, accuses her of having caused the death of the two victims “for generic and specific fault, in violation of the rules regulating road traffic” to quote the other, relevant measure taken by the investigating magistrate, who also ordered non-repeatable ad hoc technical checks. Dr. Continisio did not deem it necessary to order an autopsy on the bodies of the two victims, as it was clear that their deaths were due solely to the very serious multiple traumas reported in the terrible crash, and immediately issued the authorization for the burial – the funeral was already celebrated on Saturday 8 June – but instead recognized the need to proceed with a kinematic assessment aimed at the precise reconstruction of the dynamics, causes and all responsibilities of the accident. The task was conferred yesterday morning at the Palace of Justice in via Aldo Moro in Matera, to engineer Giuseppe Brizzi. Forensic engineer Pietro Pallotti will also participate in the expert operations as a consultant for the injured party, made available by Studio3A-Valore SpA, a company specialized at a national level in compensation for damages and in the protection of citizens’ rights to which, through the Area manager for Puglia Luigi Cisonna, the three children of the Liccese couple were entrusted to be assisted, who welcomed the attention and scruple of the Matera Prosecutor’s Office in wanting to get to the bottom of things to clarify the tragic facts.
