The Lotus Emeya wins the fast charging challenge

VERY FAST CHARGE – One of the factors that most worries those approaching electric mobility concerns i charging times. This is why car manufacturers try in every way to reduce them. The data declared by the manufacturers are based on ideal conditions (we wrote about it here), which is why every year the management consultancy firm P3 Group conducts a study on charging in real conditions. After having conducted the test in Europe and the United States, this time it was the turn of Asia, where the one that outclassed all the cars tested was the Lotus Emeyawhich has proven it can store in 20 minutes enough electric energy to travel 458 km.

BEST OF ALL – On this occasion P3 Grop tested models that can be purchased in Asia (in the graph below) and the electric supercar from Lotus did much better not only than the competitors tested with it, such as the BMW i7 and the Tesla Model Y Long Range, but also the winners of previous tests: Lucid Air GT, Porsche Taycan, Mercedes EQS and Kia EV6. From field tests it emerged that the Emeya managed to achieve a speed maximum of recharge Of 402 kW, with an average of 331 kW. The charging curve shows that the supercar starts immediately at around 400 kW and then decreases slightly due to a probable temperature peak.

FOCUS ON EFFICIENCY – As mentioned, at the end of the 20 minutes of charging the Lotus sports car had added just under 460 km to its autonomy, almost 90 km more than the second-placed Mercedes EQS (372 km). The tests showed that, of all the vehicles tested, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 was the one with the lowest energy consumption, allowing it to be competitive with models with much higher capacity batteries.

> In the top graph, the ranking of charging speeds, above that of consumption where the Ioniq 6 emerges as the most efficient car.
