Liguria: Orlando, ‘after the ballots, construction work for regional elections began’

Rome, 12 June. “It must be prevented that FdI, the true referee of the Toti match, makes his own national political calculations on the skin of the Ligurians. Meloni wants to avoid the possibility of a national election that is too unfavorable, perhaps with regional elections in Umbria, Emilia-Romagna and Liguria together, and manages the Ligurian case accordingly. To the detriment of the interests of Liguria, from the implementation of the Pnrr to the healthcare disaster”. The Democratic Party deputy and former Labor Minister, Andrea Orlando, says this in an interview with the Genoa edition of the newspaper La Repubblica.

“We must give a signal immediately, without waiting, on several fronts. Insist on the mobilization for Toti’s resignation, on the one hand, and on the other start – underlines the Dem exponent – a programmatic construction site for the future. Already after the ballots at the end of the month we will have to start working on a draft of common reasoning on the development model of Liguria. The moment is now, to transform the political signals that came from the vote into mobilization and make it a trigger.”

“We will work with all the forces available to act to unblock the political situation and then discuss the programmatic priorities, checking whether there are common proposals, a program to build and grow in the common initiative aimed at society. On the political front I already see a natural convergence between the opposition forces in the Region, including Action, despite some distinctions. The real challenge will be to involve other forces as well. I don’t think those policies alone will be enough to lift Liguria from the quicksand into which it has been thrown. At a national level, I hope that the disposition towards dialogue in recent months does not change – Orlando finally replies to a question on the outcome of the M5S vote in the European elections – nor does it call into question the progress already made. But if I think of the M5s in Liguria, however, I see numbers that are similar to those of the latest policies, and a solidity of a relationship that is essential for the future”.
