Looking at them overall, the numbers of the latest regional elections in the province of Cuneo leave no room for interpretation. The success of Cirio’s coalition – never in question, not even before the electoral campaign – is of overwhelming proportions. If five years ago the centre-left, already 25 points behind (now they are even 40) could at least console themselves with the good performance of the city of Cuneo, this time even the capital has turned its back on the losers: here the challenge between Cirio and Pentenero ended 48 .6% to 42.6%.

However, there are some data to keep in mind, especially if you ask yourself – someone, like the Cuneo councilor Boselli, has already started to do so – about how much the vote in the Region could influence the dynamics of the city. The most surprising, perhaps, concerns the unexpected victory of the Dem wing over the centrist area, in that sort of “arm wrestling” that was established with the entry into the field of Maria Laura Risso – majority councilor – in Cirio’s troops. The Democratic Party responded by nominating him Franca Giordano, former councilor of the Center with Borgna, and opposing the Calderoni-Giordano duo to the Gallo-Risso duo. Well, Giordano in the city, with 1,422 preferences, beat not only Risso (330) but even Gallo (776), the record holder of preferences in this round. Together with your climbing partner Mauro Calderoni (1,110 votes), is the only one to exceed one thousand. On the other hand, the uninspiring result of Risso – who had won 148 preferences in the municipal elections – shows that in the centrist group the pro-Cirio choice of councilors is not shared by the council members.

The other notable fact is that the outcome in the Seven Sisters is much more fractured than it was five years ago. There is no longer the monolithic dominance of one party, the League, which had brought (almost) everyone into line from Argentera to Santo Stefano Belbo, with Bulgarian percentages. This time, in addition to recovering Cuneo (with 28%, against 22.4% of FdI) the Democratic Party was first in Saluzzo (32.5%, thanks to the Calderoni effect), in Savigliano (28.1%) , in Fossano (23.3%), in Bra (23%) and – again – in Alba (32.6%), where it also distances the Cirio list at 31.4%. Mondovì remains outside, where the confrontation is entirely within the center-right and is also indicative. Despite Robaldo and Costa’s support for Cirio, in fact, under Belvedere the most voted party is Fratelli d’Italia and the leading candidate is Villanova Paolo Bongioanniwhich gets 598 votes.

Highly anticipated, but sensational in its proportions, it is the result of Marco Gallo in his Busca: as outgoing mayor he gets 2,192 personal votes and alone drags the list to 53.3%. It is even more than what Calderoni manages to do in Saluzzo (1,850 preferences) and inferior only to the result that Maurizio Marello takes home in Alba (2,646 preferences), however benefiting from an electoral base three times larger than that of Busco. Apart from the “Kaimano” Bongioanni and the Forzista Franco Graglia (in his Cervere he goes from 217 to 238 votes), the other incumbents are less “prophets in their homeland” than five years ago: this goes for Marello himself, who in Alba drops by almost 400 votes compared to 3,035 last time. Even more for the Northern League Paolo Demarchi in Saluzzo (from 503 to 398), Matteo Gagliasso in Savigliano (from 604 to 400) and even Luigi Genesio Icardi in Santo Stefano Belbo, who also put 829 preferences in his bag (but last time there were 1,376). The other Alba native, Ivano Martinetti of the 5 Star Movement, drops from 153 to 111 preferences.

Among the most notable results of the other candidates are those obtained in Fossano by Ivana Borsotto of the Democratic Party (1,017 preferences) e Simona Giaccardi of the League (794): they are the most voted in the city, but it is not enough for the seat. Identical fate that of the Cirio champion in Alba, Daniele Sobrero (1,184 votes), and of Roberto Russo of Fratelli d’Italia in Bra, with 524 votes: last time, however, there were 561.
