A senior military commander of the pro-Iranian Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah has been killed in an alleged Israeli attack in southern Lebanon. Hezbollah itself announced this in a note, explaining that it is Sami Abdallah, also known as Abu Taleb.
“It is with great pride and honor that the Islamic Resistance announces the martyrdom of Commander Taleb Sami Abdallah, known as Hajj Abu Taleb, born in 1969 in the city of Adchit, in southern Lebanon, martyr on the road to Jerusalem (an expression used by Hezbollah to indicate the responsibility of the Israeli forces),” the movement declared.
According to a Lebanese military source quoted by the newspaper “L’Orient le Jour”, the air attack took place in the town of Jouaiyya, about 15 kilometers from the Israeli border, and caused the death of three people in addition to the commander. The commander “is the most important Hezbollah member killed so far since the beginning of the war,” the same source said, without specifying the identity of the fighter.
