Avi.Coop in the Region. Meeting and demonstration

The Avi.Coop dispute, a company belonging to the Amadori group, is back under the spotlight of the Region. After the willingness of the company top management to discuss with the institutions and trade unions, the meeting between the Region, the company and Flai Cgil, Fai Cisl and Uila Uil is scheduled for today in Florence at 2.30 pm. On this occasion, at the same time, a demonstration of workers was organized in Piazza Duomo in front of the Region. The unions have been mobilizing for some time due to the lack of answers from the company on the future of the plant and on the employment risks (currently around 200 employees work in Monteriggioni, the majority of whom are casual).

After a tug of war that lasted weeks and a protest demonstration by employees under the Prefecture of Siena, Avi.Coop had agreed in recent days to participate in a discussion at the Palazzo Strozzi Sacrati headquarters in which the Tuscany Region and the Group took part industrialist Amadori. On the agenda are the issues that concern the approximately 200 workers, mainly resident in the Valdelsa area, all employed in the Monteriggioni production hub. The monitoring table coordinated by Valerio Fabiani, advisor for work and corporate crises to the President of the Region Eugenio Giani, had gathered the company’s willingness to meet both the institutions and the trade unions. The decision therefore emerged on this occasion to convene the regional table in a plenary session also in the presence of the municipal administration and the Province of Siena. Today the long-awaited discussion will therefore take place from which concrete responses to the workers’ requests are expected.
