June 14th is the day of the 1000 Miglia in Orvieto, the route and changes in traffic and parking – Orvieto Life

Over 400 participating crews, 33 countries around the world represented. The 2024 edition of the Mille Miglia started today from Brescia, the “most beautiful race in the world” which will take place from 11 to 15 June, with a ride of 2200 kilometers it will bring 420 built cars between 1927 and 1957 to cover five stages across the Peninsula, as per the format inaugurated last year. Adding an epic flavor to the tour de force of vintage jewels will be the unusual journey through Counterclockwisewhich recalls the myth of the first editions of the 1000 Miglia speed race.

On Friday 14 June the 42nd edition of the Mille Miglia will arrive in Orvieto – after the last passage in June 2021 – as part of the fourth stage from Rome to San Lazzaro di Savena. The first cars will pass through the historic center around 8.30 and time control will be held in Piazza del Popolo. Under the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo, waiting for the caravan, there is also an exhibition of historic cars of the Guardia di Finanza on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the foundation of the Corps.

Leading the convoy of historic cars will be the Ferraris of the Tribute 1000 Miglia and the Full-Electric cars of the 1000 Miglia Green, while in the queue there will be space for the Supercars and Hypercars registered for the 1000 Miglia Experience. A car with robo-driver, driven again this year by Matteo Marzotto, will cover a large part of the route in autonomous driving mode as part of the 1000 Miglia Autonomous Drive project with Politecnico di Milano. The 1000 Miglia Charity also returns in support of Ieo – Women’s Cancer Center, with various personalities from the world of entertainment.

Measures regarding the parking of vehicles:

From 3.00 to 13.00 on Friday 14 June 2024 and in any case until the end of the event, there is an absolute ban on parking and the removal of vehicles in the following squares and streets:

  • Piazza del Popolo;
  • Vivaria Square;
  • Piazza Duomo;
  • Via del Popolo, in the stretch between the intersection with Vicolo Corsica and the intersection with Via di Loreto;
  • Piazza Santa Chiara;
  • Via Ippolito Scalza II^;
  • Via Adige, in the one-way section towards Sferracavallo

Measures regarding vehicle traffic:

From 07.00 to 13.00 on Friday 14 June 2024 and in any case until the end of the event, vehicular traffic is prohibited in the following streets and squares:

  • Piazza Duomo;
  • Piazza del Popolo;
  • Vivaria Square.
  • Strada delle Conce with diversion of flows onto Strada Dritta del Marchigiano;
  • Via Adige, from Sferracavallo towards the historic center;
  • Via Luca Signorelli;
  • Via Arnolfo di Cambio with the exception of residents of the area between Piazza XXIX Marzo and Via Pecorelli;
  • All vehicles coming from Via di Loreto will be diverted left onto Via Ripa Corsica;
  • All vehicles coming from Via Ripa Corsica will be diverted left onto Via della Pace towards Piazza XXIX Marzo;
  • Via del Duomo;
  • Corso Cavour (stretch between the Mancinelli Theater and the Torre del Moro);
  • Vehicles used for loading and unloading goods in transit along Corso Cavour, at Piazza Sant’Angelo, will be obligatorily diverted to the right onto Via Angelo da Orvieto;

Recommended alternative routes:

  • from the town of Sferracavallo to the historic center of Orvieto: P. 56 (Via Tevere) towards Orvieto Scalo, from Via Giovanni Ciuco turn right onto SS71 towards Orvieto
  • from the town of Sferracavallo towards SS71 Viterbo: P. 43 (Via Arno) towards Viterbo
  • from the town center of Orvieto Scalo (roundabout between SS 205 – SS 71) to reach the historic center of Orvieto: S.71 (Via Sette Martiri), SS71 (Strada della Stazione)
  • from the town center of Orvieto Scalo (roundabout between SS 205 – SS 71) towards Viterbo: S.71 (Via Sette Martiri), SP56 towards Sferracavallo;

Regulation of local public transport circulation during the hours 7.30-13.00 on Friday 14 June 2024

  • Circular C suspended from 7.30 am to 1.00 pm and in any case until the end of the event;
  • Circular B and all the other lines arriving at Piazza della Repubblica will follow Via Filippeschi, Via della Cava, Porta Maggiore at the exit.
