A fire broke out today in a wing of the palace of Versailles, France: firefighters were busy extinguishing operations while the site was evacuated. But the situation would have already returned under control.

Fear in Francewhere starting from 3pm today there was a massive intervention of fire trucks at the palace Versaillesnear Paris, where black smoke was seen coming out. The images of smoke that came out of the castle were spread by various internet accounts and also by local media.

The fire brigade confirmed that all Versailles personnel, around 97 firefighters, were involved in the operation, while the structure, generally stormed by tourists, was evacuated as a precaution. It seems that it all started from an area currently in restoration. In particular, a construction site at roof level of the Palace, near the building, caught fire Cour de Marbrethe marble courtyard. The fire in any case it would have already been tamed and the site would have been reopened to the public after 4pm.

The Communications Department of the Palace of Versailles specified in a statement that “there were no injuries or damage to the heritage collections”.
