Three families were evacuated as a precaution and the teams, deployed to protect the homes threatened by the flames, slowed down the advance of the fire front. The intervention ended during the night with the clean-up operations.
MESSINA – There are already many hours of work. The firefighters of the Messina Command have been busy, since 3pm this afternoon, fighting the large fire that has spread in the countryside of Acqualadrone and Spartà. A fire that threatens several homes, some of which have already been evacuated as a precaution.
“The situation is still under control thanks to the intervention of several teams. All with 25 units, 5 teams and 3 tankers”, the firefighters say.
For his part, the mayor has activated the Coc, Municipal Operations Center, with the councilor Massimiliano Minutoli, who has the delegation for Civil Protection. He highlights the latter: “I am coordinating from the Centre’s headquarters, in via Acireale. We sent the Amam, with the tankers, and groups of volunteers to support the firefighters. As a priority, the police should be notified and, for any needs, we should also be notified on 09022866″.
