Hotel Sylvia, golden wedding with tourism

Tourism craftsmanship? There he is. It’s called the Sylvia hotel, 33 rooms, and it’s in via Rovereto on the corner of viale Trento. He opened the season by celebrating half a century of activity “because my father Umberto started it in 1974”, says his son Glauco Paialunga who runs this structure with his wife Mireille De Rek: the second generation of quality tourist craftsmanship. And he says that the formula is a winning one: “We opened the hotel on June 1st and we are full, without a free room, until the end of August – says Paialunga –. And if I have to be honest, we also had to send some people away who wanted to come here on holiday on the occasion of Pesaro Capital of Culture. What is our secret, above all, I would say, the family management means that customers stay with us as if they were at home. And the cuisine is also home-made traditional local dishes starting naturally from the winning formula”.

This is confirmed by customers who “have been coming back every year for 50 years – continues Paialunga –. They send me a message and book the days. This year we celebrated the opening of the season with a German couple, Mr and Mrs Pohl from Munich (in the photo with the Paialunga couple) who joined us in 1974 and come to Pesaro on holiday every year”. An event to celebrate. “We also uncorked a bottle because this half century had to be opened with a toast. But… But they told me ‘we really like your cuisine, but that of the Castiglione restaurant more’ so I brought this old couple of German friends to eat at a restaurant.”
