Carlos Alcaraz won Roland Garros 2024: in the Paris final he beat Alexander Zverev in the fifth set. The Spanish tennis player, who eliminated Jannik Sinner in the semi-final, won a marathon match, which lasted over four hours and ended with a score of 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2. For Alcaraz it is the third Slam in his career: before turning 22, he won on three different surfaces.
The match
Alcaraz won the first set, in 43 minutes of play, with the score 6-3 and breaking his opponent’s serve three times. Then came the reaction of Zverev, who in 51 minutes won the second set with a score of 6-2. The German also won the third set in 65 minutes, with the score 7-5: Alcaraz served for the set at 5-2 with new balls, but from then on he lost five consecutive games. The Spaniard recovered in the fourth set, which he won in 40 minutes with a score of 6-1. The final was therefore decided by the fifth set, which Alcaraz won 6-2.
