Frosinone, Suspicious death in hospital

The autopsy will clarify the causes of death Romano Reatini60 years, died after 11 hours of hospitalization at emergency room of the Frosinone hospital. Following the death of the man, owner of a dental technician practice, and the consequent complaint presented by his family, the Frosinone prosecutor’s office opened an investigation. Yesterday, he gave the medical examiner the task of carrying out the autopsy. There are currently three doctors under investigation, but it cannot be ruled out that the number could increase in the next few hours. To the point that the deputy prosecutor Samuel Amari has ordered that the autopsy examination will take place on Monday at the Frosinone hospital.

According to what emerged in this first phase of the investigation. Reatini he went to the Spaziani hospital at 6:00 p.m. on June 18. He complained of severe abdominal pain for which he remained under observation in the emergency room for about ten hours. During that time he underwent tests to establish the causes of his discomfort. However, it seems that the reason for his discomfort had not yet been identified when the man complained of a worsening of his health conditions and lost consciousness. Since then he has never recovered, he went into a coma and died around 5:00 a.m. on June 19.

A complaint was then filed and the first investigations were started by the prosecutor’s office, starting with the acquisition of the medical records. To carry out the autopsy examination the public prosecutor entered three doctors in the register of suspects, two from the emergency room, a man and a woman, on duty during the man’s stay in the facility, and an anesthetist who performed a treatment on the man. THE Three they are assisted by lawyers Nicola Ottaviani, Enrico Pavia and Stefano Carbone. The family of the dental technician, who was active in the world of volunteering with Avis of which he was provincial president for a term, as well as president of the municipal section of Villa Santo Stefano, has appointed the lawyer Melissa Ritarossi for legal protection. The prosecutor appointed Dr. Benedetta Baldari of the forensic medicine institute of Sapienza University to carry out the medical-legal examination. In turn, the suspects appointed doctors Fabrizio Ciprani of the University of Tor Vergata and Mario Straccamore of Frosinone as party consultants.

The autopsy examination, for which the consultant has requested 60 days to file the results, will begin on Monday. This is to allow the prosecutor’s office, on the basis of the examination of the medical records, acquired in the meantime, to verify the opportunity to broaden the field of the investigations, possibly including among the suspects other health workers who have been treated for the victim. Among the questions submitted to the technical consultant for examination were the identification of the house and the time of death, whether the medical services were appropriate in compliance with the recommendations of the guidelines, whether the health workers acted negligently and whether there was a causal link with the death, whether there were complications and how, if any, they affected a diagnosis hypothesis.
