According to what emerged in this first phase of the investigation. Reatini he went to the Spaziani hospital at 6:00 p.m. on June 18. He complained of severe abdominal pain for which he remained under observation in the emergency room for about ten hours. During that time he underwent tests to establish the causes of his discomfort. However, it seems that the reason for his discomfort had not yet been identified when the man complained of a worsening of his health conditions and lost consciousness. Since then he has never recovered, he went into a coma and died around 5:00 a.m. on June 19.
A complaint was then filed and the first investigations were started by the prosecutor’s office, starting with the acquisition of the medical records. To carry out the autopsy examination the public prosecutor entered three doctors in the register of suspects, two from the emergency room, a man and a woman, on duty during the man’s stay in the facility, and an anesthetist who performed a treatment on the man.
