HOLY CROSS. She was found lifeless in her apartment near the center of Santa Croce. Yesterday morning some of her relatives called her on the phone but her answer was always the same. Endless ringing and no answer. A thousand thoughts that follow one another in the head then the decision to raise the alarm to the police and 118. Then the tragic discovery once the rescuers managed to enter the house. Stefania Vene, forty-year-old mother, had died, probably a few hours ago from causes that were traced back to natural events. The body, however, was sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for investigations and to definitively clarify the reason for her death.
A death that caused great emotion in Santa Croce where the woman was well known. She worked in large-scale retail trade and frequented the leather town. She had grown up here and she had many friends. To get an idea of how much this death has shaken the Santa Croce community, just take a look at Facebook, where since yesterday morning there have been posts greeting the forty-year-old with many people who still don’t believe that something like this could have happened. To some she was a warrior, to others a sweet mother. For everyone she was a friend who is now forced to cry over a tragedy that still has no reason.
The halt to the electoral campaign
Even the mayoral candidates running for the local elections which will take place on Saturday and Sunday for the renewal of the city council spoke on the episode. Mariangela Bucci, exponent of the center-left and his opponent Roberto Giannonicandidate for the centre-right, expressed deep condolences by announcing that they wanted to suspend the activity linked to the electoral campaign for yesterday, the day of the tragedy, also out of respect for the family and towards Stefania Vene.
Also because the lifeless body was found in an apartment building. Many people noticed what happened. Even if the rescue was useless. The health personnel sent by the 118 operations center of the ASL Toscana Centro, once they entered the apartment, could not do anything but confirm his death. The carabinieri who intervened evaluated every element, initially not excluding any hypothesis. But then it was clear to everyone that it was a fatal illness.
