A terrible impact, which caused the death of a German married couple – Robert Fendt Friendrich, 61 years old, and his wife Maria Kornelia Schubert, 68 years old -, and of a young Florentine boy, Marco Acciai, 21 years old, who was traveling together with his girlfriend who was injured in the impact. An accident occurred yesterday, Sunday 2 June around 1pm at the Rosignano toll booth, which involved three cars and caused the destruction of a motorway booth, with the consequent injury of the toll booth attendant. Ambulances, firefighters and law enforcement were on site, with traffic literally coming to a standstill due to the closure of the Tirrenica to allow rescuers to intervene. Among the injured were also two children aged 3 and 6, and two other women, aged 34 and 63, who were traveling in a car with Eastern European license plates.

A terrible accident whose reconstruction of the dynamics is still being examined by the police. The most popular hypothesis, according to what emerged, is that the car driven by the German woman entered at high speed – perhaps due to an illness – into the lane where the other vehicles were queuing to exit the toll booth. Hence the diabolical collision that caused the cars in front to overturn and the dramatic trail of blood and destruction that occurred in the following moments. Truly heartbreaking scenes. The people who lost their lives died instantly, while the injured transported to the hospital in Livorno, fortunately, are not serious. In the emergency room the ASL had also activated the hospital disaster manager, i.e. the maxiemergenze team. The governor of Tuscany, Eugenio Giani, also spoke about what happened, thanking “our emergency health system and health workers, law enforcement and firefighters”.
