More blood on the streets of the south-east of Bari. Cristian Ventrella, an eighteen-year-old from Putignano, in the province of Bari, died this afternoon on the provincial road that connects Castellana Grotte to Monopoli. The young man was driving his powerful Kawasaki which, for reasons still under investigation, collided head-on with a Volkswagen Polo driven by a man from Castellana Grotte.
The rescue
A 118 ambulance arrived on site within minutes and transported the boy to the “San Giacomo” hospital in Monopoli. Conditions were already desperate. In fact, the 18-year-old suffered very serious internal injuries in the collision. His heart stopped beating a few minutes after arriving at the Monopoli hospital despite the doctors’ desperate attempt to save him from death.
