In recent days, the Inter defender Carlos Augusto was the protagonist of a chat interview during the TNT Sports program ‘De Placa’. A long chat during which the Nerazzurri player talked a lot about himself, starting from his debut in his homeland: “I spent my whole life at Corinthians, but when I became a starter at Corinthians I ended up leaving the team and leaving for Monza to playing the Italian Serie B. I remember that many spoke of a difficult decision, because I was leaving a top Brazilian club to go to the Italian Serie B. But in the end I think it was good for me to adapt to football there and I also made history in Monza: we achieved the first promotion to Serie A in the club’s history and this year I joined Inter. Now I’m enjoying the moment.”
Carlos Augusto does not deny the difficulties in adapting to the Italian football system: “You see that Italian football is very tactical, a lot of work is done on defense. Even in Serie B you often saw this: it was very difficult to attack these teams. When I arrived at Inter I noticed the total difference in pace; when I was in Monza and played against big clubs, the difference was very clear. So you feel this pace a lot. Of course, the Premier League is much more intense, but in Italy the intensity is equally high and is also very tactical. The moment of arrival at the Nerazzurri obviously brought new challenges: “When you arrive in the team, and even more so in a team that has played in the Champions League final, it is very difficult for you to fit into the group. I think the hardest part was understanding the coach’s playing method, but in the end I learned it quite quickly because it’s a very close-knit group.; we really felt like family, and that helped our season. I managed to adapt well to the style of play and managed to have a good sequence of matches, playing practically every match.”
As a result of his good performances, Carlos Augusto was called up to the Brazilian Seleçao for the first time on 6 October 2023, taking part in the matches against Argentina and Uruguay. The new coach Dorival Juniorhowever, at the moment he has not yet contacted him: “The moment in which I arrived in the national team was not the best. Of course, given that I had gone to Europe a long time ago and in the end I went to Serie B, I was not well known not even among the fans and this ends up weighing a bit. I think I was very calm, on the occasions I had I tried to do my best. Of course, finishing without winning the match is a little different, but the objective The main thing is to continue, play a sequence of games with the national team, get more minutes at Inter and see what this new season promises.
