Cinisello Balsamo, Reti Gas award: question still open

Almost six months after the discovery of the huge debt relating to Reti Gas award, the story returns to animate the public debate in the city. A joint note from the majority announces a square on debt coverage of 20 million euros which would thus secure the organisation’s budget.

“Thanks to the ability to manage relationships and the discussions between the mayor and the management of A2a-iRetigas, a rebate of 500 thousand euros on the total value of the debt and interest freeze from 15 January (date of the award ruling) until payment, expected by 30 June 2024, for a total value of 241 thousand euros – reads the note -. This operation led to a total savings of 741 thousand euros”.

The note continues with a specification on the destination of the funds available to the Municipality: “The legislation provides that any free budget surplus must be allocated to cover the off-balance sheet debt – it is specified -. The presumed surplus from the forecast budget was equal to 10,750,000 euros. Thanks to the savings policies and correct revenue management applied by this administration, the final budget made it possible to allocate over 2 million euros more than expected.”

A management of the matter which for the majority can be defined as a “good family man”: “These two actions made it possible to remodulate the mortgage amount to 6.8 million euros, almost 3 million euros less than expected – continues the note -. We are certainly not free from consequences, if only for the fact that we could have used the resources allocated for this match for other initiatives for the benefit of the city and citizens, but the law requires this destination”. And he concludes: “This Administration has been able to tackle an extremely complex economic situation with determination and transparency, with a result that represents a model of good administration and responsibility towards the community”.

Of different opinion opposition forces That they reply to Mayor Ghilardi pointing the finger at the increase in municipal taxes: “In six months you have used the provisions that previous administrations had left you and the budget surplus – they point out -. In the meantime, you have decided to raise IRPEF and IMU by over two million euros, an increase that has no justification in the mortgage installment that the Municipality will have to pay, even more so now that the mortgage has been reduced: the 3 million mortgage the less they have to immediately go back into the citizens’ pockets!”.
