BERLIN – The bronze “medal” of this edition of the EuroLeague goes to Olympiacos. In fact, the Piraeus team won 87-84 over Fenerbahce. The red and whites won by leading throughout the match, but Fener shot for the equalizer and even Sertac Sanli had scored, but just outside the time limit.
A low-paced match, in which the teams were more concerned about not getting hurt. And in fact the small players on both sides have been calmed down a lot in view of the season finale in their respective championships.
Olympiacos took a reassuring lead from the first half, which was only put in danger in the third quarter with some outbursts from the former Sassari player Pierre and the usual Wilbekin.
But Bartzokas’ team regained the lead immediately afterwards and led until the end.
For Olympiacos there are 20 points from Peters, 12 from Williams-Goss, 10 from Larentzakis and 10 from Milutinov.

For Fenerbahce instead 19 arrive from Pierre, 16 from Wilbekin and 11 from Sanli.

The news

The match begins in very low gear. It’s clear that the teams are playing more to avoid getting hurt than to impose themselves.
However, the first to gain the upper hand is Olympiacos with Milutinov and Papanikolaou: the opening 10 minutes end at 24-17.
In the second quarter, after a positive first part for Fenerbahce, Olympiacos once again took the lead: at halftime it was 48-37 with a triple from the corner after Peters’ siren.
Upon returning to the pitch you see a Fenerbahce with a completely different face. Pierre and Wilbekin go on their own and give the Turks -2. Before the end of the third quarter, Olympiacos found some sparkle and closed the game at +4 (66-62).
In the last quarter Olympiacos manages to regain a comfortable lead. Fener tries a last desperate attempt at a comeback, but Sanli’s last shot is scored but outside the time limit. Olympiacos wins 87-84.
