This afternoon, the fire brigade teams of the Catanzaro Command detachment of Lamezia Terme intervened on an A2 Mediterranean motorway heading south, immediately after the Altilia Grimaldi junction, due to a fire involving an articulated lorry .
The vehicle, dedicated to the transport of various materials, was affected by the fire while it was in transit. Fortunately, the driver promptly noticed the fire and abandoned the vehicle before the flames could fully spread.
The timely intervention of the firefighters, supported by a tanker, made it possible to completely extinguish the fire and make both the vehicle and the surrounding area safe.
The traffic police also intervened at the site of the accident to carry out their duties and Anas personnel to restore the normal safety conditions of the road. The southbound carriageway of the A2 was completely closed to traffic to allow the rescue operation, while at the moment only the northbound carriageway has been reopened.
