Castiglione del Lago, Ecoisole new containers for edible oils
Metal collection is also extended to non-domestic users

TSA Trasimeno Servizi Ambientali has completed the installation of containers for the collection of used edible oils. The special containers allow the transfer of oils used in cooking: these are frying oil, lard and oils used to preserve food in jars. The new street containers are added to those already present in recycling centers.

In the municipal area of Castiglione del Lago there are a total of six, which can be used 24 hours a day, 7 days a week: in the capital they are located in the two existing Ecoisles in via Leopardi (Unicredit car park) and in via Piana (car park at the “I Tulipani” shopping centre). ”); the third collector is located in via De Nicola (in the “Agilla” shopping center area). The other three are in Pozzuolo in viale Milano (southern entrance to the “Franco Rasetti” school) and Villastrada (near the cemetery), next to the Ecoisole, while the last one is in Sanfatucchio in via Poggio del Sole.

Users will be able to freely use the appropriate containers to deliver the oil, collected cold and in well-closed plastic bottles, bottles which, in turn, will then be sent for recovery in the plastic collection: TSA recommends not using glass containers . The sheet metal containers have a useful collection capacity of 240 litres, with an adequate anti-spill seal bottom.

The expansion of the service was introduced following the adhesion of the Municipality of Castiglione del Lago to the “Experimental project to enhance the collection of used vegetable oils”, presented by GEST srl and developed by the TSA manager.
This new service adds to what has already been started with the activation of the 4 computerized Ecoisles, in which it is possible to dispose of the following waste, at any time and every day of the year: residual dry waste, plastic, paper and cardboard, fraction organic waste and small metal waste such as aluminum and ferrous containers, such as jars and cans. The Ecoisole are located in via Leopardi (Unicredit car park), in via Piana (car park at the “I Tulipani” shopping centre), in Pozzuolo in viale Milano (southern entrance to the “Franco Rasetti” school) and in Villastrada (near the cemetery). Please remember that it is possible to place paper and cardboard in the special metal cages next to the Ecoislands, while glass can be placed in the relevant bells located throughout the municipal territory.

In the last City Council this possibility was extended to all non-domestic users such as bars, restaurants, takeaways and pizzerias which can use the Ecoislands to in turn dispose of small metal waste, such as aluminium, tins, cans etc. Users will be able to use the Ecoislands and dispose of their waste by identifying themselves using a specific RFID card associated with the TARI bill holder. For those who have not already done so, the “Ecoisola Card” can be activated at the TSA Eco Desk in the “Massimo Del Pizzo” pre-council room of Palazzo della Corgna, open every Tuesday from 2.30pm to 6.30pm and every Thursday from 9am to 1pm.

«These are very important innovations, not only in terms of management – states the Councilor for the Environment Fabio Duca – and for which I thank AURI, GEST and TSA for the fruitful collaboration with the Municipality in this legislature. Innovations that contain a strong political value and with which one of the strategic objectives of this municipal administration is completed, that of promoting and encouraging good practices for separate waste collection and recycling. Choices which, together with the sensitivity and attention shown by the citizens of Castiglione, have allowed the Municipality of Castiglione del Lago to become a point of reference in this issue for the whole of Umbria as highlighted by Legambiente and Arpa Umbria on the occasion of the award ceremony of the Recycling Municipalities 2022 which saw, for municipalities above 10,000 inhabitants, the prize being awarded only to Castiglione del Lago and Assisi”.
