Tensions and poisons, Cosentino: “Ridiculous accusations from Morselli, priority should be given to programmes”

Frost. There is no shortage of tensions in this electoral campaign which is still in its initial phase. The profiles, especially of the candidates for mayor, are substantially dissected, amid suspicions and already existing conflicts. Certainly, the candidacy of engineer Grazia Cosentino, former municipal manager and then technical manager of Impianti Srr, attracted a lot of attention, due to the role held in the in-house company that deals with the waste service. It was the former president of the Region, the MPA leader Raffaele Lombardo, who spoke of the “shadow governments” of the SRRs, in relation to candidates supported by these companies. Cosentino has, since his debut, ruled out any anomaly but there is no shortage of disagreements. The councilor for public works Romina Morselli, also with a recent post on her Facebook profile, launched an appeal to avoid uncomfortable candidatures, from multiple profiles. This week, you returned to the topic, referring precisely to the engineer Cosentino, leader of the broad moderate-centre-right pact. “I didn’t think we could sink so low in this election campaign. The accusations that Councilor Morselli made against me are simply ridiculous, because they are false and unfairly denigrating. My professional past is impeccable and only those in bad faith can allude to the contrary. In doing so, councilor Morselli – says Cosentino – has lost a unique opportunity, that of redeeming herself from the violent attacks that she has received and defending herself from the accusations that have been made against her in relation to the recent and less recent scandals involving the current administration. Morselli, moved exclusively by the worst feelings that politics has shown us and worried about remaining in this completely isolated electoral competition, gave vent to her anger and her personal anxieties.” In recent days, the councilor has also underlined that the current electoral campaign “is not on equal terms”. Around the candidates, both for the city council and for the mayor’s seat, there is no shortage of voices and appeals, expressed in a more or less direct way. The same national anti-mafia commission, on the basis of a precise protocol, which however is not mandatory, has asked all the coalitions to send lists and names of those who are ready to run for the polls at the beginning of June.
