In Agrigento at the Government Palace, they were received by the Prefect of Agrigento, Dr. Filippo Romano, the Extraordinary Commissioner of the ASP of Agrigento, Dr. Giuseppe Capodieci, and the Provincial Director of the INPS of Agrigento, Dr. Peppino Fabio Segreto.
The main object of the visit was to illustrate the plan for disposing of the requests pending at the Medical Commissions for the recognition of civil disabilities. This project is based on three fundamental directions: a) the entry into service of new personnel (nine units, soon); b) the normalization of the procedure (increasing the number of sessions of the 15 Commissions, as well as the number of cases examined, per session); c) the introduction of the oncology certificate. The latter constitutes a tool of central importance, which will allow medical oncologists – operating in public health facilities – to enter the data of their respective competence, concerning the individual cancer patient, directly on the dedicated platform, managed by INPS, avoiding the filter, up to now, placed by the general practitioner and which, data in hand, constituted the real “handbrake” of the system in question.
The Agrigento healthcare organization is the first in Sicily to implement this operational protocol.
