Apple has made public the software that helps you understand if your iPhone has a problem

Is the headset working badly? The screen doesn’t look good? Is the camera having problems? Today, to find out if your iPhone (or Mac) has some hardware problem, it is not necessary to take it to an Apple Store, perhaps hundreds of kilometers away.

Apple, as part of the self-repair program, has also made available in Italy what it calls “Apple Diagnosis for self-service repair”, an online diagnostic tool that performs a series of tests and identifies any problems and explains how to resolve them.

A decision that is part of the self-repair program, which allows all those who are able to repair their smartphone (or other Apple products) by following the manuals that are available on the Apple website step by step and using original parts purchasable on the dedicated portal.

Soon, in addition to the original parts, it will also be possible to use used but still functioning parts removed from other iPhones, which can be combined in the case of safety constraints using the appropriate software that can be installed on a Mac.

Apple products can also be repaired with used but working spare parts. The user will be informed

The tool is very easy to use but still requires a secondary device for the procedure. You don’t necessarily need a Mac: Apple explains that to access the console, all you need is an iPhone with iOS 13 or later, an iPad with iPadOS 13 or later and Safari, a Mac with macOS Catalina 10.15 or later, or a PC with Chrome 55, Firefox 59 or Microsoft Edge 12.

Diagnostic suites are designed to debug the screen, with a series of colors and patterns that help pinpoint pixel anomalies and dirt under the screen, Multi-Touch, helping pinpoint areas of the screen panel with responsive pixels or they do not respond to the touch of the camera, both front and rear. There’s also a FaceID and audio test, with a sequence of tones through the internal speakers to check for distortion and recording audio to check the microphones.

In addition to the new diagnostic tool, Apple also released a report on repairability and how new products are designed, with a focus on ease of repair. To date, there are a total of forty-two products that can also be repaired by the user, and the recent MacBook Air M3 has now been added to the list, for which the user can carry out repairs independently.
