Because we believe that CMF Phone 1 can be a real revolution in the smartphone world

On July 8th at 8am CMF, the Nothing brand that focuses above all on value for money, will present its first smartphone, Phone 1. We have never hidden our weakness for the great work done by Carl Pei with Nothing, and today we believe that Nothing Phone 2 and Phone 2a are for various reasons, from the particular design to the software, from the specifications to the price, among the phones to be seriously taken into consideration for those who do not want to spend too much, but want a product that lasts, works well and that is also distinctive.

We don’t know exactly what the CMF Phone 1 by Nothing will be like, but we know that it will cost less, we are talking about 199 euros / 249 euros depending on the version and we also know that in addition to sharing part of the DNA with Nothing, therefore a strong attention to design and a consistent, clean and updated Android version, it will also wink at the environment and sustainability, facilitating not only repairs but also customization.

A photo of what should be the back of the phone was released in recent weeks, and a teaser published on the brand’s official account seems to confirm the design, with the presence of a large screw which becomes an element of the design itself as well as representing an element lock, useful for keeping the smartphone together.

By unscrewing the screw, and the small screwdriver is supplied and is one with the pin to eject the SIM, you can remove the rear cover, thus facilitating not only operations such as changing the battery but also, if desired, replacing the rear panel.

In short, a mix between the old colored Nokia Lumias, where very little was enough to change the cover and replace the battery, and the FairPhones, simple to repair and made with sustainable materials.

CMF Phone 1 will not only be a super accessible smartphone, but it will also be a smartphone where Using less delicate materials will lead to fewer breakages and, if there are any, it will also be easy and cheap to repair them. All with technical equipment which, if confirmed, would be dripping fat in a similar price range: 6.67″ FHD+ OLED at 120 Hz, Mediatek 7300 (the same as the Reno 12), 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage expandable. The battery should be 5000 mAh, interchangeable, there will be fast charging at 33 Watts and there will also be a double camera, 50 megapixels, the main one and a secondary one of which, at the moment, no details are known. The operating system will be Android 14, with NothingOS interface.

If all the details and rumors are confirmed CMF Phone 1 it could represent a real turning point in the world of smartphonesnot so much for the price or the features but for a return to the ease of repair, the “do it yourself” battery change, the possibility of changing the bodies with a few euros to play with the colours, a bit like what was done in the past .

A smartphone that wouldn’t even require a cover, an accessory that didn’t exist 20 years ago when phones were made of plastic, and if they fell to the ground they were picked up as if nothing had happened. At most they had gotten a scratch.
