And it is probably no coincidence that many other video games announced for 2025 have chosen not to indicate any generic date, precisely to avoid colliding with the giant Rockstar Games.
Even Xbox conceded of having adopted this same strategy: in an interview given to the Strictly Business podcast by Variety (Street GamesRadar+), Matt Booty explains that he deliberately chose not to provide release details for the video games coming out in 2025 because of GTA 6.
“I think many in the industry will obviously plan to make their plans accordingly GTA 6and we can’t all wait for that game to come out, which should be amazing.
Sure, everyone in the industry will want to make sure they don’t end up in the shadow of someone else’s big release, but we just need to keep all options open».
Even Xbox therefore admits that it is “scared” by the release of GTA 6which would risk overshadowing some of its great exclusives: this also explains why during the Xbox Games Showcase we saw so many games announced in 2025, but without even a month of release.
Matt Booty explains however that the sixth Grand Theft Auto is clearly not the only reason behind this choice, but that it was also made to avoid “stepping on one’s own toes”. with their releases and organize releases more calmly and without pressure.
In any case, the influence of GTA 6 appears clear to everyone: after all, if we have already witnessed similar cases for the release of Shadow of the Erdtreewe can only imagine that the situation can only “worse” with the mammoth production of Rockstar Games.
