Dominic Thiem is about to end his career. THE wrist problems have unfortunately had a significant impact on his progress on the pitch, ever since that tournament in Mallorca in 2021. And so it can be found right on Spanish grass three years later, in this sort of farewell Tour, having to deal with what his current tennis can offer him.
Thiem, however, is making the most of these last remnants of his career, also being an interested observer of current affairs. The Austrian player is very optimistic about the future of the circuit, given the advent of exponents of the new generation: “We have a Next Gen that is incredible. There are two guys who were number 1, Sinner and Alcaraz, who are incredible and play great tennis. I love watching them and probably all the fans love it too, so tennis is in very good hands“, said the former top-10 player.
“I think the most important thing of all is that I hope that many children, especially in Austria – because I am Austrian and probably where I am best known is there, in my country – will start playing tennis for me. This would be the most important legacy. I also hope that people remember me as a good person on the circuit capable of playing well, this is also important. I hope it’s a good legacy“, concluded Thiem.
