With the victory of the ATP 500 in Halle, for Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori the doors of first position in the Race leading to the 2024 ATP Finals are definitively opened. This is, as is known, the ranking that includes only 52 weeks of the current year, and which qualifies for the event that it will be played next November at the Inalpi Arena (formerly Pala Alpitour) in Turin.

The two blues, in fact, from tomorrow will have 4410 points, 230 more than the pair formed by Marcelo Arevalo from El Salvador and Croatian Mate Pavic. A jump of three places, that of the two Italians, since the previous leaders drop to 3rd, Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden (the Indian-Australian duo winner of the Australian Open) at 4140 points, while the Spanish-Argentine pair formed by Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos (the latter, however, we will not see at the Olympics due to a heated affair with Argentina not being called up).

The ranking based on the 52 weeks of the doubles, however, works differently, in the sense that it counts players individually. For this reason, and due to a difference in Vavassori’s partner in a tournament in the last 52 weeks, it is the Turin player who is tenth alone with 5075 points, 200 more than Bolelli who is 11th. Leading 8065 is Ebden ahead of Granollers and Zeballos (together).

Now, for everyone (or almost everyone) the next objective will be Wimbledon, where Bolelli and Vavassori, taken individually, defend very little (2nd round in 2023). Various top couples must instead try to maintain important points: an ideal moment to gain even more confidence and depth.
