Mareco: “I dream of returning to Brescia”

Guest on the show Football Timebroadcast on the social channels of EuropaCalcio.it, Victor Hugo Mareco, 40 years old and with a long career as a central defender behind him, he spoke in 360 degrees about his past and his future plans. Here is his opinion on the best player he has ever played with: “The strongest player I played with after Roberto Baggio? I say Matuzalem: when I met him I was surprised, he was really very strong. It is no coincidence that he then went to Shakhtar Donetsk. While the teammate with whom I bonded most at Brescia was Gilberto Martinez. He too was there for many years like me, and together we experienced many battles.”

Obviously a sentence about Mazzone: “I will always thank Mazzone for all the teachings he gave me but above all for himself: I have rarely seen a team, starting with the best players of that Brescia, respect the coach so much. It is something I will never forget. Guardiola? He was already a coach on the pitch, he spoke a lot and tried to help everyone. Roberto Baggio? Before being a great captain, he was a great person.”

Then finally Mareco concluded by speaking about Maran and of the future: “Maran’s dismissal in March 2006? It was something that surprised everyone. I’ll start by saying that Corioni was like a father to me, but that decision to send Maran away for Zeman cost us promotion to Serie A, I’m still convinced of that today. The current Brescia? I always follow it because I left a part of myself in that city. The dream is to be able to return to work for the club one day, obviously in a different role but it’s something I really want.”
