Rugby Romagna Rfc comes of age

Romagna RFC has come of age by blowing out the candles on its eighteenth birthday in one of the best moments in the history of the franchise, which has just regained Serie A and is becoming increasingly rooted in the territory thanks to a series of projects linked to growth of the youth sector. The partnership was actually founded on 19 June 2006 and so on 19 June 2024 the opportunity arrived to toast a future that starts from solid foundations. The Cesena club chose the Faenza hills of Podere La Berta to organize an event that brought together the different souls of Romagna RFC: in fact, representatives of the various clubs registered with the franchise were present, as well as the men’s and women’s teams of Romagna, the staff and to the network of supporters, volunteers and fans who have accompanied the male and female athletes this season. Special guest was the president of the Italian Rugby Federation Marzio Innocenti who confirmed his closeness to Romagna Rfc by bringing with him the flag that was given to him on the occasion of the club’s tenth anniversary. It was 2016, and the journey had just begun, shared with Giovanni Poggiali (founder of Romagna), who then brought Innocenti to the helm of the Federation thanks to the victory in the elections in 2021: a journey to which a new chapter will soon be added given the federal elections for the next four-year period are imminent. “It is a great pleasure for me to be in Romagna to celebrate this beautiful reality and its 18 years – underlined Innocenti during the meeting with the representatives of the Romagna clubs –. Congratulations for the good season and for the return to Serie A, a championship which will certainly give the entire movement the opportunity to grow and consolidate.”

The evening actually continued with the celebrations for the promotion: “Congratulations to the boys who immediately achieved the objective – relaunched the president of the franchise Massimo Villa – it was not at all obvious, but the group demonstrated all its potential by building on Sunday after Sunday this result is so important for our entire movement and for what it represents.” As is now tradition, the technical staff awarded the awards to the players who stood out most throughout the championship: Guglielmo Scermino, Andrea Sergi, Giovanni Di Franco, Salem Fela, Cristian Marini, Andrea Sergi, Mattia Tauro, Stefan Vincic, Andrea Fantini, Marco D’Agostino and Fabrizio Maroncelli There was also space to celebrate Nardo Casolari, former Galletto, from Rimini, new Italian champion with Petrarca Rugby. Meanwhile, the groups’ training continues for a few more days, and in July they will then take a holiday period before returning to the field preparing for the new season.
