Fighting for the World Championship already this year and next year with the official Ducati promises to be a spectacle. But Marquez made a confession about this.
We are now approaching the end of the first half of the season MotoGP and it has already seemed clear for several weeks who will fight for the World title. The last few years had been very undecided for a long time, while 2024 has practically revealed its cards right from the first GPs. The 2020 accident in Jerez (first stage of that anomalous World Championship due to Covid-19) left a profound mark on him. He tried to rebuild himself little by little, but Honda didn’t support him, on the contrary. And for this reason, to give himself one more chance, this year he moved to Ducati, albeit the unofficial one of Team Gresini. He wanted to see if he was still capable of fighting for victory, and this first part of 2024 confirmed it.

In the meantime, however, he also achieved another goal, that of taking it home the official bike in 2025, even landing in the main Ducati team alongside the reigning champion Bagnaia. She thus won the tug of war with Martin, who explained her way about her in a recent interview. But Marquez went even further, speaking to As.com.
In particular he explained that between his GP23 and the GP24 used by Martin and Bagnaia there is at least two tenths of difference per lap, or four seconds in a race. And if we look at his results in the race, we understand that Marquez really did something incredible: in fact in Qatar he came fourth 3.4 seconds behind the first, while in Jerez he placed second just 3 tenths away . At Le Mans he finished second by 4 tenths, while in Barcelona a good 10.4 seconds, while at Mugello he accumulated two seconds from the winner.
In practice, by saying this, Marquez made it clear that, all things considered, he could have won 4 races. And he basically implied that the general director of Ducati Corse Gigi Dall’Ignaas well as by the Marquez brand and the suggestion of the champion, he was also convinced by these numbers to give him a chance in the official team and not give it to Martin instead.
